Frequently Asked Questions

How many students are in each class?

To ensure every student receives personalised attention, my GCSE English group classes are limited to a maximum of 8 students.

This allows every student to ask questions, participate in discussions and receive regular feedback throughout each lesson.

Where do the classes take place?

All classes are taught live online via Zoom.

Students can join from anywhere with an internet connection, making it easy to access expert GCSE English tuition from home.

Do you offer a trial class?

Yes. New students are welcome to join my weekly group classes on a trial basis.

Simply join the weekly class subscription and attend your first lesson. If you decide the classes aren't the right fit, you can cancel your subscription after your first class with no further commitment.

Book your trial class here.

How much do the classes cost?

Students initially join on a weekly subscription of £25 per class.

On the first working Monday of the following month, weekly subscriptions automatically move to the monthly class subscription of £100 per month, securing your child's place in their weekly class.

The monthly subscription includes:

  • Weekly live online classes

  • Weekly revision notes and resources

  • Homework and feedback

  • Parent progress updates

  • Assessments throughout the year

How do subscription payments work?

Subscriptions begin on a weekly basis at £25 per lesson.

On the first working Monday of the following month, students automatically move onto the monthly subscription of £100 per month, ensuring their place is reserved in the class.

Which classes do you offer?

I currently offer two Year 11 AQA GCSE English group classes:

GCSE English Excellence (Grades 7–9)

For students aiming for the highest GCSE grades.

GCSE English Success (Grades 4–6)

For students working towards securing a strong GCSE pass and building confidence.

Both classes follow the AQA GCSE English Language curriculum and are taught in small groups of no more than eight students.

Is the teaching exam-board specific?

Yes. The lessons are specifically designed around the AQA GCSE English Language specification, ensuring students are fully prepared for the requirements of their examinations.

What does my child receive each week?

Students receive:

  • One-hour live Zoom lesson

  • Small group teaching (maximum 8 students)

  • Weekly revision notes

  • Structured homework

  • Practical exam strategies

  • Individual feedback during lessons

  • Ongoing support throughout the academic year

Parents also receive regular updates on their child's progress.

What if my child misses a class?

If your child is unable to attend, they will receive the lesson notes and any supporting resources shared during the class.

Where available, access to the class recording may also be provided to help students stay up to date.

What is your refund policy?

If you decide the classes aren't the right fit after attending your first lesson, you can cancel your subscription without any further commitment.

After this initial trial period, subscription payments are non-refundable once processed.

If you believe a billing error has occurred, please contact me and I'll be happy to investigate.

How much homework is given?

A small amount of homework is set each week to reinforce what has been taught during the lesson.

Homework helps students practise exam techniques consistently and build confidence over time.

Do students complete assessments?

Yes. Students complete assessments during the academic year, including Christmas and Easter assessments, with additional evaluations in May.

Parents receive written feedback highlighting progress, strengths and areas for improvement.

Can my child join after classes have started?

Yes. Students are welcome to join during the school year, provided there is availability in the appropriate class.

If joining part-way through a month, your first payment will be adjusted before moving onto the standard monthly subscription.

Do you offer one-to-one tuition?

At the moment, I don't offer one-to-one tuition. My focus is on small-group classes, where students benefit from expert teaching, collaborative learning, and a supportive environment while still receiving individual attention.

If you'd like to discuss whether my group classes would be a good fit for your child's needs, I'd be happy to help.
